This week I’d like to give you a few updates on our life together:
Prayerwalking Discernment: As I’ve been listening to the Lord and to our Immanuel community, I’m hearing a need for continued prayer, for more small group gatherings, and for more opportunities for me to know and be known by you. We’ll be exploring ways to meet those needs in the weeks ahead.
Praying for County Board of Supervisors: You may have noticed that we’ve added our Supervisors to the Prayers of the People. The Wardens and I met with Supervisors Boddye and Vega last week—the Supervisors for the districts where our church office and future building are located—introducing them to Immanuel (and the new Rector), sharing with them about our prayerwalking, and asking them how we can serve those communities. We committed to pray for the entire Board weekly. I’ve also recently spoken with Lt. Dave Burghart, Chief of Staff for the Acting Chief of Police of PWC, who has offered to arrange a meeting with Acting Chief Phelps for a similar conversation with our entire Immanuel family. I’m grateful for these opportunities for Immanuel to express “God with us” right here in Prince William County.
Hoadly Road Mission Outpost: The Move Team continues working through its task list, with the goal of requesting a mortgage in early November of this year. My preparation is complete, the majority of our documentation is in hand, and potential banks will be contacted in mid-October. We’re also doing a final round of requesting bids from contractors to ensure we have the most competitive pricing possible. And if you haven’t driven by the property recently, please do so you can see the updated sign, and say a prayer for the Lord’s continued blessing on this work, and on the surrounding neighborhoods!
Wednesday Night Livestream Discontinued: The Live Worship led by Jordan on Wednesdays is stopping this week through the end of 2020. We are grateful to Jordan for his vision and leadership, and we look forward to new opportunities for worship in 2021.
Consecrated Hosts Delivery: That’s a strange phrase to type! Deacon Sallie is working with Terry Barratt and the Home Communion Team to ensure that all who desire are able to receive the Body of Christ during the Livestream of our Sunday worship service. See the details below for how to get in touch with Terry.
Memorial Service for Sean Ewart: Colleen and Jim Ewart would like to thank everyone in the congregation for their kind prayers and continued support after the recent loss of their son, Sean. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel Springs Church located at 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, VA, 20136. All are welcome.
Finally, each week we continue to improve elements of our 10am worship service at Gray’s Event Center. Please don’t hesitate to register iachurch.org to attend. The past couple of weeks we’ve had room for more!
I’m grateful to be one of the threads among you as God uses Immanuel to weave his tapestry, moving us toward that final Re-Union in Christ.
Your Pastor in Christ,
Travis+
