Backpacks for Kids: Serve
In Prince William County, there are many children that are food insecure. Food insecure is “the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food.” In Prince William County, over 19,000 elementary school children qualified for free or reduced-price school lunches. Although these children are provided meals during the week, some do not have access to food on the weekends. We want to ensure these children don’t have to worry where their next meal is coming from by providing children with weekend food bags.

Leadership and Staff
Leadership at Immanuel starts with Jesus.
The leadership team of Immanuel includes clergy, lay staff, and an elected vestry. The entire team works with one focus in mind: “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12)
Clergy
The Rev. Travis S. Hines
Rector
Father Travis loves Jesus, loves his wife and their four children, and loves the family that is Immanuel Anglican Church. (And he’s pretty fond of his family’s dog and cat as well.) Travis began serving this congregation as their rector in June 2020, grateful to share life together as we experience and express the truth of our name: Immanuel – “God with us for the sake of others.”
Texan by birth and a life-long follower of Jesus, Travis set his sights first on theatre, then on teaching, then stumbled into computer technology. To his surprise, the Lord called him to be a pastor, right about the same time he had his first encounters with liturgy and sacraments – an experience of the presence of God in a sung Compline service, and an experience of grace in the rite of Confession. Those drew him into the Anglican Way, leading him into studies at Trinity School for Ministry, ordination in Pittsburgh and Uganda, and service in theological education, cross-cultural mission, cheesemongery, and local churches. Fr. Travis and his family are grateful to be putting down roots in Woodbridge, VA, ready to grow with Immanuel, as the Kingdom of God grows here in Northern Virginia.

The Rev. Sallie Rathbone
Pastoral Assistant
Thirty years ago, Sallie found Immanuel Anglican Church, her Christian family. The passion to serve Jesus through serving His people has defined all of the ministries in which she participates As a lay person, she sought out numerous areas to serve this community, all of which have shaped her walk with Jesus.
After serving as a deacon at Immanuel for eleven years, Sallie was ordained to the priesthood on October 1, 2022. She is involved in pastoral ministry: bringing the presence of Jesus and the Immanuel community to those at home or in the hospital through Holy Communion; serving as clergy for our Stephen Ministry; providing Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction; and simply walking alongside people to listen. All of these are services of Sallie’s heart, along with leading women’s retreats and organizing and facilitating women’s bible studies that encourage our sisters in Christ.
Sallie also serves as a clergy for a Kairos Prison Ministry team, and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for teens involved in the court system.
Sallie actively seeks Jesus in each moment of her life. He lives in us and with us each and every moment of each and every day. He puts before us opportunities to witness and serve, showering on us His abundance and blessings.
