A Word from the Junior Warden

Through a lot of hard work and especially a lot of prayer, God has blessed us with the beautiful building that now serves as our mission outpost. We not only have a place to worship on Sundays, but we also have a place to meet and coordinate various ministry activities, attend Bible studies, enjoy fellowship, conduct VBS, and serve the community through things like Narcotics Anonymous which meets in our building on Sunday evenings. God has placed us here, in this specific location, for a reason!

He has great plans for us.

Yes, God delivered a building to us. But the process of owning and managing it will continue. In the interest of transparency and informing you of the work and money that still is required as owners of our mission outpost, I wanted to highlight some actions we’ve recently taken, and actions that are still in progress. The good news: God partners with us as we manage these activities. Please pray for God’s provision and that barriers to our work are removed.

First, a few weeks ago, to mitigate the risk of trees falling, we had several large trees removed that were either dead or otherwise at risk of falling. As we saw, a fallen tree can cause substantial damage. We were blessed, even when a tree fell on the fence last month, that only a single fence panel was damaged and was easily repaired (at a cost of course).

We also manage routine maintenance and inspections for the fire alarm and security system, HVAC system, lawn maintenance, pest control, and generator. I now know more about generators than I ever thought I would, and I can report that ours is working well, is routinely inspected and maintained, and has in fact been triggered during power outages.

Lastly, even though the building is completely constructed, the construction process is not yet over. We are currently completing the “As-built approval”, a process with many requirements, involving the Prince William County Department of Public Works, our engineering firm, and of course the Junior Warden. The

As-built review ensures that our building was constructed according to the original plan approved by the county. We must conduct onsite inspections and submit As-built plans to the county. We have successfully passed the CCTV stormwater management inspection and submitted a second round of drawings now being reviewed. We must continue to maintain our construction bonds and various permitting until the review is finished and approved. At that point, a Notice of Termination is prepared and submitted, and we will be released from our bonds.

Like I said in the beginning of this article, God partners with us as we work through all these many needs. Through hard work and prayer, we will successfully complete all tasks necessary to manage our mission outpost. God is with us!

Sincerely,

Scott Ankers

Junior Warden
