“A Unique Sunday”

This upcoming Sunday, June 2nd, we gather together as a church family for one service only at 10:30am, followed by a Parish Meeting and Picnic on the Lawn. At this gathering I will propose a mission statement for us to consider together over the next several months:

We cultivate a family that offers Reconciliation, Refuge, and Re-formation to the people of Prince William County through experiencing with us our life with God.

In my sermon, I'll explain why I chose these particular words by looking at Scripture, considering our identity, and reflecting on our calling. I’m looking forward to sharing these ideas with you, and beginning a months-long conversation that will enable us to articulate and engage the unique mission God has given to Immanuel.

Additionally, this Sunday we’ll enjoy the following:

·       Our members from both services will be together. (It’s almost like a family reunion!)

·       Our fifth-graders will Move Up to the Youth Group in a brief ceremony.

·       We will pray for Rhema and Jean as they complete the Parish Administrator transition.

·       We will have a brief Parish Meeting, listening to our Wardens present past accomplishments and new

·       We will enjoy our church family as we eat barbecue on the lawn!

No need to worry about parking—parking and shuttles will be available at Coles Elementary, beginning at 8:30am.

Finally, for those of you who were unable to attend this past Sunday, it is important that you listen to my sermon from that day (it begins at the 26-minute mark on the video). More than an explanation as to why the American flag now stands in our Nave, it is a call to be united in Christ and in love for one another.

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday and continuing with you into God’s future for Immanuel.

Your Pastor in Christ,
