“Come Worship the Lord…at 8am and/or 10:30am!”

O come, let us worship and fall down,

and kneel before the LORD our Maker.

For he is our God,

and we are the people of this pasture,

and the sheep of his hand.

(Psalm 95:6-7)

Sunday, October 1, we will begin offering our worship services at two new times:

  • 8am Worship Service: This will be a simple, traditional service with no music, but filled with the Spirit through Scripture and a sermon, liturgy and prayer, Sacrament and thanksgiving. For those desiring a quiet, contemplative engagement with God through ancient liturgy, words, and sacramental actions, join us for this “Spoken Eucharist.” All are welcome at this 45-minute service, but no childcare or livestreaming will be provided.

  • 10:30am Worship Service: This 90-minute service will continue our current way of worship—rooted in Scripture, Sacrament, and our ancient Anglican liturgy; alive with music and offerings for children; and followed by food and friendship.

Please notice that the later service begins at 10:30am, not 10:00am! For the first month or so, nothing will be offered between the services as we settle into this new rhythm. In time, there will be formation opportunities such as Bible studies, classes, and the practice of spiritual disciplines.

Offering these two worship services creates space for us to grow, providing more room in our Nave and our parking lot as we live out the “…for the sake of others” part of our calling. Additionally, this expands our hospitality—different expressions of worship for the different ways in which our community connects with God. I anticipate that both these services continuing to evolve as we discover what releases us into authentic, Spirit-filled communion with our God in Christ. And, since worship energizes mission, my hope is our worship will overflow into outreach.

I am also grateful to announce that we have hired a Parish Administrator! Soon I’ll introduce to you Norma Dhlodhlo, a woman with extensive administrative and managerial experience, a kind and peaceful presence, and a readiness to serve and care for the people of Immanuel. You can catch a glimpse of her on our updated homepage, or swing by the office and welcome her face-to-face.
