Message from the Interim Rector

December 15, 2019

FROM YOUR INTERIM RECTOR

Christmas is coming. Have you noticed? Let me help you out with that…HoHoHo!

Actually, there’s more to it than that. During Advent, we prepare for the remembrance of the Bambino Jesus by prayer and special bible readings. Try to spend time meditating on Matthew 1:18-25 and 2:1-22; Luke 1:26-80 and 2:1-39; John 1:1-14; Galatians 4:3-7; and finally, Revelation 22. A good sweep of what Advent/Christmas is all about.

Here at Immanuel, we are looking forward to the Children’s Pageant this Sunday. The pageant has been a part of our congregational life for a number of years. Be sure and attend this Sunday at 10 a.m. for this unique event.

Speaking of worship, our move back to Beville Middle School last Sunday came off without a glitch. As one parishioner said to me, “It’s nice to be home.” And once again, we spiritually turned the cafeteria into a Cathedral of worship. What a great congregation you are – worshiping our Lord with gusto and caring for one another with great compassion.

As for Mary Ellen and me: Mary Ellen is spending the week in Syracuse caring for our daughter Sarah who is recuperating from an appendectomy. She will return on Tuesday. Meanwhile, I am beginning to get it together regarding moving out of the apartment by the end of this month and heading south to Florida for a while.

May God shower blessings upon you during this Advent Season.
